Self Lovember, Week Three: The Power of Emotional Self-Care

Self Lovember, Week Three: The Power of Emotional Self-Care

We live in a world that is constantly asking us to do more, be more, and give more of ourselves. It's no wonder that so many women find themselves depleted, exhausted, and empty by the end of the day. If you are one of those women, I want you to know that it doesn't have to be this way. You can fill yourself up by practicing emotional self-care.

What is emotional self-care? It is any activity that you do deliberately in order to care for your emotional health. Just as you brush your teeth and take a shower every day to care for your physical health, emotional self-care should be a regular part of your life. When you make time for yourself, you are filling up your own cup so that you can show up in the world as the best version of yourself.

3 Emotional Self-Care Activities That Will Transform Your Life

1. Get in touch with your emotions.
One way to do this is to keep a journal. Every day, take some time to write about how you're feeling. Don't worry about being neat or having perfect grammar. Just let the words flow out of you onto the page. This activity will help you get in touch with what you're feeling so that you can better deal with your emotions.

2. Spend time with people who make you feel good.
We all have relationships in our lives that drain us emotionally. Whether it's a toxic family member or a difficult co-worker, we all have someone who brings us down instead of lifting us up. For your emotional self-care, spend time with people who make you feel good about yourself. These could be friends, family members, or even co-workers who are supportive and positive. Surrounding yourself with good energy will help you feel better about yourself and the world around you.

3. Do something that makes you happy every day.
This could be anything from reading a book to taking a walk in nature to listening to your favorite album. The important thing is that you make time for activities that bring joy into your life on a daily basis. When you do things that make you happy, it helps improve your mood and gives you something to look forward to each day.

Remember, emotional self-care is not selfish; it's necessary. When you take care of yourself emotionally, you are better able to show up for the people in your life and handle whatever challenges come your way. If you are not used to being deliberate about your emotional wellbeing, start small with one or two activities from this list. As emotional self-care becomes a part of your daily routine, you will notice a transformation in how you feel both mentally and physically.
